I have been working in the deathcare industry since I was in high school. This year I celebrated my 30th year in various roles within our industry.
I graduated from Jefferson Mortuary College in 1994 with an AAS degree in Mortuary Science. I am currently a nationally licensed director and embalmer. I went on to complete my Bachelors of Science degree in Accounting and Finance from the University of Alabama.
I began my career after college working for the largest privately owned company in Birmingham in 1994 - Ridout's Brown-Service owned by the Lackey family. I went on to serve as assistant controller for this company and later as an accounting manager for Service Corporation International after they acquired the Ridout's firms. After leaving SCI and helping with a local new build in the Birmingham area, I relocated to Orange County, California and was the President and CEO of a privately owned S-Corporation also in the deathcare industry. I served with a funeral home consulting firm located in Phoenix, Arizona one year after leaving the previous CEO position. I later returned to the West Point, Georgia area where I reside today.
